Dubai Day 3
Today we went to see the gold souk and the spice souk. Souk means an open air market in Arabic. Dubai is famous for its gold and I have never seen so much gold ever before in my life. It is a beautiful market covered from the top with shops on either sides. The picture on the left is a HUGE solid gold ring on display in one of the shops in the gold souk. It is NOT FOR SALE but I cannot imagine how much it will be worth.
Next we went to the spice souk. It is full of wonderful spices from Iran and I ended up buying Saffron, which is a very expensive herb used in our cooking. Also, some cinnamon which is quite good and much better than what we get back home.
The evening was spent at the City Center as usual. Tomorrow we head to the newer part of Dubai, to the Mall of Emirates.
