This is the Bari Opera House, the Teatro Petruzzelli, offering a fine selection of operas and ballets through the season.

La Boheme, La Traviata, Cavalleria Rusticana, Giselle, Swan Lake - serious art and culture is alive and well and thriving in Italy.

This was in contrast to the general flavour of the city, which seemed to me to be more run down than when I visited last year. But then, these are not easy times......
