Middle Meadow Music
It was cool enough earlier this morning for his Lordship and me to opt for an indoor table at Peter's Yard, although the outdoor tables were still busy with tourists and Edinburghers with children and dogs in tow enjoying the sun.
I can't help wondering what the erstwhile patients lying in the long wards of the old Royal Infirmary would have made of today's scene outside their windows, had they been able to see the transformation.
The area has metamorphosed from one which engendered fear and anxiety into a meeting point for relaxation and good cheer.
That is certainly one big transformation for the better in the city centre.
Now we have to travel to the city's outskirts amongst green fields and modern wards to get the fear and anxiety of illness.
Having decided to leave the crowds and festival Fringe to the seriously addicted, we started home and passed this guitar player at the foot of the Middle Meadow Walk. Because I stopped to blip him, his Lordship went to put some change into his coffers, only to discover that the man was playing for free. 'Typical', said his Lordship, 'that I should give to possibly the only person performing for free on the streets today'. But hey, he's that kinda guy..........
