Burrowing Owl

At my school we have areas set aside for these guys to dig their burrows.
This one was right outside the ceramics studio all day today.
We were a little worried about him but apparently if they get stuck somewhere at sunrise they will stay there all day and go back where they belong once night falls.
I'd never seen this close before.
They are so very tiny and those eyes just glow.
