The Northern Kingdom of Shambalia
Kagyu Samye Ling Tibetan Buddhist monastery, Eskdalemuir, Scotland
This monastery opened in 1967, the first Tibetan Buddhist monastery in the West.
The area it sits in is full of megalithic stones, Romano-British sites (including an amphitheatre) and Druid worship sites.
This area is also near the birthplaces of Thomas Telford, the engineer and James Hogg, the Ettrick Shepherd and author, whose grandfather was supposed to be the last living man to speak with the faeries...
Nearby the town of Langholm is the home of the Armstrong family, and Neil Armstrong was granted the freedom of the town on his return from the moon.
