urban texture

Perhaps an unusual interpretation of the assignment but these guys add a lot of texture to our urban environment. They are kereru and they were once rarer than now, although they are still fairly scarce. Councils and gardeners planting native trees in much larger numbers has helped, as has reducing possum numbers (they compete for food) and less of them appearing in pies or getting grounded (link not for the faint hearted).
