Today is an inside day, wet again!

This tree trunk is close to my dining room door, I was able to zoom in on it. The wee plant is growing under it, with one longer branch than the rest looking bright & cheery against the bark.
The trunk belongs to a weeping silver birch which we planted 33 years ago.
The plant was given to me as a cutting about the same time from my Mum, if she was with us still she would name it straight away.
Can anyone name this for me - it is always pretty, lovely multi coloured leaves all through all seasons. I thought it may have been a Nadina but not sure.
