Wild Dewberries

Went mushroom hunting today in a location where we found some real beauties 2 years ago and which don't appear to have returned since. Nothing last year and again nothing today. Will keep an eye on the location though since August is a good time. It has probably been too dry for them but that sure doesn't explain last year which was dreadfullly wet all summer.
So, no mushrooms for tea but we did have fun picking delicious dewberries. These look like blackberries but cling very much closer to the ground and we never knew they existed in our mushroom area. Came back with fingers stained a virulent red but with enough booty to mix in with a few apples for a dewberry crumble for supper.
