First rays of the new rising sun

Yes it's back to the pictures of water and sky! I'm back at sea after departing Conakry, Guinea on Tuesday. This month I'm working from midnight to noon, so a change from sunset pictures... this time it will be sunrises! :-)

I've seen some poor countries in the time I've been going to sea but Guinea must rank as one of the poorest. Happy people but depressing living conditions. I hadn't realised until we got there that our survey operations are very big news, we were filmed for the local news when we got off the plane! We will be conducting the first major survey for oil off the Guinean coast, if we find it, it would be a major boost to their economy (that's if corruption doesn't eat away all the money first... a BIG if).
