Twenty Years Ago......
was a very special day! So well choreographed, planned for, and anticipated by so many!
On this day, our lives changed! And they contiune to do so in ways we could never have choreographed, planned for, or anticipated!
Because of the wisdom accquired on this day, I tell brides-to-be that the best, most memorable wedding day moments are the unexpected things that go wrong.
The bride forgetting to put her deodorant on before putting The Dress on...and her sister having to apply it for her.
The bride who looks down the longest center isle, the same isle her parents walked down years before, seeing 200 people sitting in the pews, and hyperventilates!
The fly crawling on the bald priest's head, as he is saying something surely important, that makes 6 bridesmaids and a bride get a terrible case of the giggles.
The naughty zipper of the Maid of Honor's dress that falls all the way down her back (thankfully hidden by her long hair!) and is zipped back up during a hug at the 'peace be with you'.
Showing up at a park to take pictures and noticing a whole other wedding taking place! Too many brides on the property!
And I'm am still accquiring the wisdom that all the best and most memorable things that happen in your marriage happen the same way. But it's how we overcame them that makes us stronger and happier.
If nothing ever challenged you, what would you talk about and remember? Just another perfect wedding? marriage? life? No such thing!
It's not the destination, it's the journey.
