Young wheatear

This lad needs to smarten himself up a bit. Just having fledged is no excuse.

I was up at five to head for Westray. The gloom and rain didn't lift until we got to the island. Then it started to brighten. At Noup Head I watched gannets and hoped the basking shark reported from here the other day was still around, but it wasn't. Walking the west path back toward Pierowall, the slopes were full of young wheatears like this, must have been twenty or more.
