City's bench mark
Jacksonville City Council provided a bench for the weary traveler walking down Rooselvelt Boulevard. The only problem these days is that said traveler would need a machete to get to it, not that many people travel by foot.
Mowing open areas of grass does not seem to figure prominently in the city's priorities. City leaders will no doubt trot out the excuse that with a budget shortfall, expenditure cuts have to be made. But do they have to be made on things that effect the visual appeal of the city's streets?
The irony is that if let my front yard grow to this height, I would be in violation of a city ordinance and would be served with a compliance order by the council.
It looks as if "Do as I say, not do as I do" seems to be the order of the day.
