Evening by the lake
Today I've been having a stop over at my parents' before they take me back up to Edinburgh. I had a nice day in the shop with my mum (though was mildly disappointed that she'd sold the pendant I've been longing for, for years). After a quick dinner they took me out for a drive along the lake to get some shots that I wouldn't normally have the opportunity to get in Edinburgh City Centre.
We found ourselves at Glencoyne Bay on Ullswater. I got a number of great shots that I would have been more than happy to have as a blip but in the end I chose this shot and desaturated it as the original with the dark skies and poor light was almost monochrome anyhow.
What my mum didn't warn me about were the midges, but they were evened out by the great landscapes and some interesting rocks. I also learnt that as much as I tell myself if I ever fell with my camera I would protect myself not it, the opposite is true.
Looking at my mum's shot of the same mountains, you'd hardly believe we'd been there in the same weather.
In other news, a year ago today we were having torrential downpours!
