Sound II
This is Antony Gormley's sculpture - Sound II - in the crypt of Winchester Cathedral. Its the shot I was referring to last night when I said I was hoping to get inside the Cathedral today. This is what I came to see and it didn't disappoint.
After a frustrating day today, there was a sense of calm down here. It is quiet, cool and peaceful. Just what I needed. Or I might have killed someone. And that wouldn't be good, even if richly deserved.
Apparently in the winter, the crypt floods and the sculpture is partly submerged, which creates some amazing reflections of the figure in the still water. Sadly, there was no water in the crypt today.
Still, apart from aforementioned twunt, I'm enjoying Winchester.
