Eclectic evening

We have moved south to Carcasonne in the Cathar region of the Langued'oc.

This is La Cite, lit at night, from the Vieux Pont.

I have seen this place from the train and have always wanted to visit. It is frequently 'knocked' by the purists as it was largely re built in the 19th century, but it didn't disappoint me. We had a lovely, if expensive, meal in the town and were rather surprised by the large number of visitors dressed in black with heavy chained boots and long hair and beards. At first we though it was just one bar favoured by bikers but as we saw more and more of all ages we realised something was on. It was a Motorhead concert right in the mediaeval city!

We didn't see it but certainly heard it and the fans themselves were value enough to see - sadly I was too shy to take their pictures!
