Eyebright
Flat calm this morning and the midges were out in force. Was going to be cutting the grass, but after a few minutes of getting eaten alive I decided to abandon it and go for a walk instead.
From up on the cliff I watched an Arctic Skua attacking gulls and fulmars, diving and swooping at them and doing amazing fly pasts, twisting and turning in the air. I tried to take photos of it, for ages I tried! It was just too fast and I now have dozens of blurred shots of sky, rocks and sea! I decided this eyebright was much easier to shoot - hardly moving at all! The cliff top path has lots of it growing where the grass is short but it is so small you rarely get a good look at it. It is called eyebright because it is supposed to have medicinal qualities, I seem to remember being told.
Got the grass cut this afternoon, and lots of caterpillars squashed too! Very rewarding!
