Oregon Sildacea

This morning, upon the advice of a gentleman we met yesterday, we hiked from Carson Pass (about 8580') over Meiss col (8800') on the Pacific Crest Trail toward Meiss Meadow. He had told us there were lots of flowers, but we were a little disappointed since the flowers there were a little past their prime and fewer than we had experienced on our other hikes. We did see some that we hadn't seen previously, though, including this Sildacea, some Irises, and some Prairie Smoke (one of my favorites that I rarely get to see). We ran out of time and had to head back before reaching Meiss Meadow. We had earlier agreed to leave for the San Francisco Bay Area no later than 1:00.

I was back home by 5:00 or so and immediately started to work drying my tent and sleeping bag and putting things away. I hope this isn't my last foray into the mountains this summer, but I have to treat my equipment as though it is. A shower was almost as good for the soul as the flowers had been.
