Imperial War Museum North

My daughter and I spent the afternoon at the IWMN, which is where the shot above was taken. Some of the drawers in the shot opened, and contained letters and personal items belonging to servicemen and women and their families.

The IWMN is an impressive building at Salford Quays. Housing exhibits and information about wars and their impact on the population, from 1914 to date.

My daughter enjoyed herself with the 'hands-on' exhibits, and came away with a 'ditty' bag (like a pencil case) she decorated. I found some of the more personal exhibits very moving. I felt that my 9 yr old was probably a little young for the film exhibits, so we gave them a miss.

Although there were children's activities, the content of the museum was more suited to young teens and adults. We will go back again, but maybe when she's older, or if I'm on my own.
