The Black Sheep
Once our lambs are weened from their mothers in the autumn, the ones we want to keep and the ones that aren't yet big enough to go to the market go up to Slack House Farm, just over the river. By now their number has dwindled to the ones that will join the breeding flock back at Willowford this autumn. This morning I went up to help Dianne give them a general health check, worming those that needed it and spraying them all with a fly deterrent.
We have 2 black ones in this flock, which we are keen to keep and breed from for their more interesting wool.
