safe harbor
We are anchored just north of Roanoke Island channel.
It is bad luck to change a boat's name, but Peter refused to be seen in a boat named Mr. Fantasy so he informally shortened her name to Fantasy when he bought her, by scraping off the "Mr." in front of "Fantasy".
As an old Traffic fan I don't mind the name myself, though "Fantasy" does open more possibilities in the mind for me than Mr. Fantasy.
If you truly want to change a boat's name you must remove all vestiges of her previous name then petition Poseidon to expunge her name from his book of ships. There are detailed instructions available on the internet for this process complete with recommendations for having a virgin urinate on the bow of the boat when renamed.
Still renaming a boat is bad luck so Mr. Fantasy will remain Mr. Fantasy even if her name has been homophobically shortened to Fantasy.
We had a horse once named Lady. Turns out she was really named "Shady Lady" and had been most murderous in her past. She almost killed grandpa Bob too. Maybe that would have saved some strife over the years if she'd been more successful in her homicidal rages.
