Big Hill

Thanks for dropping by....

Jim!!!!

This afternoon, Terry and I managed to head off for some solitude with the canoe! It's been a busy few weeks here at Big Hill, and finally we managed to head off to Big Harbour, on our own, with the canoe and the usual bag of supplies!!!

We headed down the lake, the wind was a bit cooler than we'd expected, but it was just perfect to be out on the water, quietly paddling along. After soon exploration, we found a small section of stoney beach and pulled the canoe up.
Laid out the blanket, opened the wine and started in on the smoked salmon and crackers. Not a soul in sight, no boats, no sea-dos....(those awful noisy machines i had to deal with in Muskoka!)...just the 2 of us and the quiet. About 20 minutes into our lovely little heaven we spotted a yellow kayak coming around the bend with a very familiar person in it.....Jim O'Brien appeared and so we waved him in. We had a lovely visit, he is such an interesting character.....originally from Ireland (still has quite a lovely lilt to his voice) and a retired psychiatrist - and one of the gang we play poker with in the winter months. He thought it was pretty amusing, and said that he doesn't often head out for a kayak around the lake and find folks offering wine, smoked salmon and crackers.....he'll be on the look out in the future!

Feeling a whole lot more centered now......it really doesn't take very much!
