nogbad's blips

Cal stayed over last night and after both of us had a lie-in we had to decide how to spend our day. We started by booking a few nights away at the end of next week -- his sisters are both beyond spending holiday time with their father but he and I are having a "Boys Own" break. That sorted we went down to Hastings for fish and chips (sausage for Cal).

Famous for a battle that didn't happen there (it was at Senlac Hill which is a few miles inland and now called Battle) Hastings is charming - in places. We stuck in the old town and, as it's the festival this coming weekend, saw lots of pirate activity. There was also a street fair in Courthouse Street and on Friday they are hoping to set a new Guinness World Record for the number of pirates in one place (or people dressed as pirates methinks mehearties).

This shot is of two fishing boats next to the fishing museum; Hastings boasts the largest beach-launched fishing fleet in England. The number on the side of the red boat is used as the title for this blip. Lots more photos uploaded to Flickr

[If you look at the large version you can almost smell the fish......]
