Country roads
Time stands still here, like the summer dust that hangs in the air beside the country roads.
You could wake up as an old man one day back here suddenly asking yourself where all the time went? The world up and went by without me...Thats how I often feel back home here where the passage of the seasons is as the passage of whole lifetimes changing little from one generation to the next.
It is nice for a respite, a repose. Be wary though. Listening to the sounds of the cicadas, noticing the browse of the deer, and the first leaves drifting down to herald summer's decline you might just wake up and realize whole years have gone by. The summer of your life gone brown and wrinkled as the falling leaves.
