Day 1 - South Korea
Backblip #1
After total chaos with a sick boy, horrible service with hotels.com, and three separate flights, we made it to our first point in our journey: South Korea.
This is a shot of my smallest having the best time with the water fountain in the airport. When we headed off the plane, it was apparent how the Korean people cherish little ones. Everywhere we looked, there were conveniences for children and families. The bathrooms have sinks and toilets for children as little as age 2. This fountain was just the right height, making my little guy super happy.
When my oldest was in the bathroom, he had trouble getting the auto-facet to work. A woman, who was cleaning the bathroom, immediately noticed him and rushed over to help him before I could even get there. She stayed with him and helped him with so much care. A simple but incredible moment that sums up the heart of the Korean people.
We had no idea where to go or what to do. Of course, we couldn't read anything or understand anyone. But everywhere we went, the people would help us. When we would turn a corner, someone would run up to us directing us to our next elevator or door. Everyone smiled and patted our little guys on their heads.
We found a wonderful hotel (Hotel Sevilla). When we walked in the room, we couldn't figure out how to turn on the lights. We wandered around forever until I noticed a strange adapter on the wall with 2 little red lights. My husband came with the room key and slid it right into the adapter, and voila! our lights, A/C and T.V. came on. There were slippers for us to use and even little packets with amenities such as toothbrush, toothpaste, razor, comb, and more.
I have never felt more welcomed and more safe in a foreign land. If you ever get the opportunity to travel to Korea, it is worth the journey for sure.
