Cheeeeeeeese!
[backblip]
A nice Wensleydale for one half of this very famous duo in fact.
Second day in Glasgow and a trip down to Pacific Quay this afternoon and the Science Centre. Thoroughly enjoyed this as they have a 'Cracking Ideas...' theme going on just now, based around Aardman's Wallace and Gromit characters. It was fascinating to see some of the actual sets and models used in the various films and even have a go at making some stop-frame animations. What with all the animation stuff going around blipfoto just now I saw this as more an educational research visit than just plain fun (no zoetrope that I could see though).
Even though Euan's heading up to the 'big school' in a couple of weeks it was hilarious to see his reaction when a full-size Wallace appeared wandering around the Centre. Not sure what it is about human sized versions of animated characters that scares kids but Euan wasn't the only one trying to find somewhere to hide as this foam filled freak wandered around pointing at and waving to and grabbing for any kid within arm's length. Still, at least I stood there bravely with a manic grin on my face waving at him so he didn't feel too much like the child snatcher from Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.
I headed off outdoors with my camera afterwards to get away from all the hyper kids and get in a few snaps before we all went off to see Toy Story 3 in 3D in the humongous Imax cinema. Great film, mightily impressive on the BIG big screen and thoroughly recommended if you haven't already seen it.
We were all so knackered after all this so after a walk down by the River Clyde we stopped off to grab some munchies from a Tesco Express (perfect timing as they were selling off all their sandwiches for 5p a pack when we went in) then headed back to the room to watch Time Bandits on DVD. Well... Euan watched it, us other three oldies dozed off well before the end.
A Cracking Day indeed.
