Duck race
Today was the Regatta - it only drizzled lightly. We were up early making copious amounts of cheese and tomato sandwiches for 'teas'. There were plenty of ladies assisting in the tea tent so I was excused :)
Races start at about 1pm and although there seem to be only about 8 gig races in all, can take an enormous amount of time to get organised. Other highlights include 'splat the rat'; a raft race, swimming races, kayaking, face painting and of course - the duck race. This involves a live duck (this year's being called Paddy) who is released into the water then chased by enthusiastic youths. Not very PC and Paddy was caught pretty quickly this year. One year the duck put up a good fight and swam way out - they youths had to be rescued!
