Southall Cinema

I was in Southall to pick up a new phone so I thought I would have a walk around, and this building - the Himalaya Palace cinema - seemed worth blipping. You don't see many high street cinemas these days, because they are now mostly edge of town multiplexes in retail parks. Looks like the latest Bollywood epic has come to town.

There used to be a beautiful old art deco building in West Ealing, which was originally a cinema called the Lido, and still gives the name to that junction on Uxbridge Road, and the nearby bus stop. That too became an Indian cinema, called the Gosai, before it was demolished in 2005.
