My task today was to go and calm down my mother. Yesterday, after waiting for several hours, she was transferred by ambulance from the Royal Infirmary to rehabilitation at the Astley-Ainslie Hospital. But by the time they got there, the bed she was destined for was occupied, and she was sent back to the Royal again. Not clever at all. The ward offered a pre-emptive strike by having the staff member responsible for the mistake phone me at home to break the news with repeated profound apologies. So as far as I am concerned, we are in amber-light territory with that particular ward-management. We shall see.

Stopped on way back in Blackford Glen. I thought the clouds were common enough on an Edinburgh summer's afternoon. Promising a wet evening?
