The Shire

I could never be described as a Shire man, more of a sympathiser, my own allegiances being in the East End of Glasgow. I have a couple of good friends that are in fact Shire fanatics. They've seen the worst of times , absentee landlord owners that tried to asset strip and strangle the club, constantly the butt of jokes as the worst team in Britain, a sugar daddy that came and gave tantalising glimpses of success before disappearing. The current situation is a mixed bag. The sugar daddy has set up a situation where the fans can ultimately own and run the club (though with limited resources to get decent players) but they aren't at home.They currently ground share with Stenhousemuir FC and whilst this may be pragmatic, football fans are romantics. This is their home, slowly decaying as the former club owner who now owns the ground tries to sell it for housing. Problem is the planners won't let him. So the fans end up with the club in exile and the former owner....... well he has a football ground he can't sell.

I have a great deal of sympathy for the wandering tribe lost in Stenhousemuir... the stadiums owner, well let's all laugh at him.
