Darmstadt

last day in darmstadt then we traveled by train two and a half hours to visit more family in kassel!
this is like the german version of michigan's Cranbrook Institute. its also very beautiful and was built around the same time.

This particular building is a Russian orthodox church built after a Hessian princess married a Russian Czar. I found it quite interesting because this princess was Alexandria of Hessen who married Czar Nicolas the 2nd. Aka she was the mother of the elusive and famous Princess Anastasia Romanov!

Just a little history for you :)

we also had time to visit the family graves today. unfortunately it rained incredibly hard while we were at the cemetary. quite unfortunate!
