for closer regard.

To affix our eyes
adds it sparingly
in vast, verdant fields
or in a dimming sky
or to jewels set
on a platinum chain
at waters edge.

With wind or light or appetite,
cautiously gives a nudge
to roseate blotches.
Moves them just so
slightly, delicately.
Sustaining our patience
for her coy art.
