The birds have found the bird porridge!
Today all the neighbourhead birds have found the bird porridge.
Only have three silvereyes in this image but we've seen up to 9 or 10 on the tray at a time. This image is not as sharp as I would like but they are a a bit timid at the moment and the angle I have to take it from probably not the best. More practice required.
One big mean blackbird scatters all the little birds when he wants to feed.
Gus wandering in and out wondering what on earth I am doing, scatters the birds too. If only they knew how harmless Gus is.
Recipe from Terra Viva:
6 cups hot water
25 gm dripping
2 cups rolled oats
1/2 cup wholemeal flour
1 cup sugar
Put 3 cups hot water and dripping into saucepan
Heat until dripping is melted
Add dry ingredients
Add rest of water and bring to boil stirring constantly. Add wild bird seed - This makes quite a good quantity so refrigerate it and put out as required.
