First day in Venice

After a very early start from Scotland (3 o'clock a.m.) Beth and I arrived in Venice and were met by Liz and Jim. After a ride on a posh vaperetto we arrived at the house in the Cannereggio district and went to the lovely house there.
We then went over the Tre Archi bridge and had a fabulous pizza in the local restaurant.

After a wee rest we set off to see this fabulous Ridantore fireworks display. This is a local display to celebrate the Venetians survival of the plague in the 17th. century.
In order to see this fabulous display we had to walk the length of Venice through loads of people. ```````according to the papers the next day there were 100 thousnd people at this superb festival.
