Wild One

Common Toadflax

Some nice butterfly pictures today but I'm ringing the changes by going for a wild flower. This plant grows as a weed and has acquired a large number of local colloquial names, including brideweed, bridewort, butter and eggs, butter haycocks, bread and butter, bunny haycocks, bunny mouths, calf's snout, Continental weed, dead men's bones, devil's flax, devil's flower, doggies, and many others of which my favourite is 'impudent lawyer'
I believe the toad in the name comes from the fact that the flower part looks a bit like a toad.
