Why my parents are the worlds greatest.
Followers may be aware that I have recently had a conservatory built onto my house. The time has come to get the whole thing sorted out, prior to my floor going down, hopefully next week.
This causes a bit of a problem, as we are also mid-decorating Megans' room, and we have a timescale to stick to for that, as we need our spare room back. Dave, bless him has worked really hard to do it over the weekend, and after work on a night. I am pretty useless it has to be said, partly due to my mobility problem and partly because I am just useless in general.
SO - Dave goes off to work today, asking me to wash down all the paintwork (covered in plaster from messy workmen) and to try to put a coat of paint on in the conservatory. During a phone conversation with my Mam, I mention what I am doing. Now, my parents are both 74, but they immediately came up and pitched in with the painting and cleaning, as amazingly did my 14 year old, Megan!
Just the other day when I was counting my blessings, a real biggy was that I was fortunate enough to still have both of my parents, when so many of my peers have lost at least one. Not only that but they are both fit and healthy enough to get about and cope for themselves, and they are so terrific that even now they are racing to my aid making my life easier and ensuring I meet my deadlines.
I am thankful every day for my Mam and Dad, and its nice to be able to do so publicly - Mam & Dad - I love you both more than you will ever know.
