B52 Stratofortress

After yesterday's fun and games at Farnborough Airshow, I wasn't expecting to be taking pictures of big military jets today; until, that is, we started hearing the quite distinctive noise of this heavy bomber - the B52 Stratofortress - as it circled over Basingstoke. Grabbing our cameras and running in to the back garden, we missed it the first pass, but managed to get some shots off as it flew over a second time in a more convenient direction.

Why the US military can't paint the undersides of their planes in colours that provide a better contrast against the sky for us photographers, I'll never know ;)
