Saturday Rain

It poured this afternoon. The warm driving rain that only happens on humid summer days.

This morning we went to the local farmer's market. What a pleasure to buy freshly dug potatoes and the sweetest imaginable apricots.

What a pleasure to cook later for my family. It's been a long time! The potatoes mashed, skins and all with butter and creme fraiche. Rapini braised with chunks of garlic and lemon. Chickpeas stewed with tomatoes, shallots, parsley and sumac. Grilled sweet onion with balsamic glaze. Yum. If only everyday could be Saturday!
