Money's tight
This is a view of the bank window through the front of the church. Same architect.
Well I was right about the slow start. Ben got up very early, and finding all avenues to him viewing cartoons on t.v. blocked, he went back to bed and re-emerged at 11am. He was amazed at himself and said at lunchtime - "I've only been up three hours!" He and Agu are growing at an incredible rate. We measured three centimetres at least in the last six weeks. I think I'll be overrun by large trainers and the socks to match before I know it.
We trailed round the square a bit and eventually had a swim at the pool before Big Agu went out for the night and I have just taken the boys to a First Communion party (one every Saturday this summer it seems) which finishes at 11pm! Apart from today's party, where the little boy had said he just wanted his friends and family about him, it is often expected that you give money towards a big present. The church almost seems to have control on the economy here, with many people worrying about how they can afford to pay for so many gifts. And the more friends you have, the more you pay. Of course Ben is Church of England in a Catholic country, and we had a little discussion about the differences over lunch. Gently of course. Little Agu is with me in limbo.
Another slow start tomorrow I guess. And probably the same for all the performers of Sa Mostra, who are staying up at the Puig school. I hear there's been some riotous fun up there. It's great to see the various troups around and about. For many of them, this is a huge opportunity to travel and has been a big financial struggle to get here. I hope they have many happy memories.
