Here there and everywhere

Charlando

We headed up to the barrio of Gracia this morning. Gracia's an old area of the city and has a very bohemian feel; little arty shops and also home to young up and coming designers, who make their pieces at the back of the shop and and sell them out front. We wandered around the squares and had a much needed drink stop on one and a tapas stop at another. These squares are just great for people watching! Still in Gracia, but on our way down to the grand Passeig de Gracia, I came across these 'dos senoras charlando' - two ladies chatting. You can still find this in Barcelona even today in the quieter streets, especially in summer and in the evening when people seek the cool of the day and the shade. We then continued down to Passeig de Gracia, which is home to two Gaudi buildings, La Pedrera and Casa Batllo, as well as all the famous designer shops. It was then time for another liquid refereshment stop!
PS My mother-in-law even managed to finish her xmas shopping in Gracia for 'the girls' in the family!
