Crocosmia with New Polarising Filter

Inspired by Barrioboy's shots over the last few days, I ordered two Hoya Pro1 polarising filters (PL), a 58mm and a 72mm, to fit my three lenses.

A lovely sunny day for experiment No. 1, and with the 50mm, which I have been using more recently. Any helpful comments on the use of these filters will be much appreciated.

I think this is a Crocosmia - I am sure someone will soon inform me if I am mistaken.
