DeYoung Museum Sculpture

I went with a friend to the DeYoung Museum in San Francisco today to see an exhibit of Impressionist paintings on loan from the Musee d'Orsay in Paris. I have read that the paintings were made available to the DeYoung only because of the ongoing renovations to the Musee d'Orsay. It truly was an incredible opportunity to see some of the works of these very famous Impressionists, including some of their most famous works.

Photography was not allowed, so I took some photos of sculptures outside the museum following our visit to the exhibition. This tunnel is the entrance to the interior of a gigantic sculpture.

A note to clarify: This is the entrance to a large sculpture that you are able to be inside. The figure is an actual person, and the wall ahead of her is a wall of the sculpture. It's hard to describe, but once beyond this entrance, there is a double wall. Within the double wall is a pathway, and then another door leading into a domed structure with seating, a skylight, and a design on the floor. I have posted some other photos in a temporary folder in my blipfolio.
