NorEastOhio blipmeet Day 1

Blip is a strange phenomenon. If you've been a blipper for any length of time, you've probably noticed that too, especially if you have attended a blipmeet or had conversations with other photographers in which you tried to explain this really special thing called Blipfoto.

How is it possible that people who have never seen each other could meet for the first time and feel like they are getting together with old, old friends...with people they've known and cared about for a long time? That's what happened today when, cameras in hand, Deb, Sam, and I met up to kick off day #1 of the NorEastOhio blipmeet.

After a one hour flight from Chicago to Cleveland, Deb drove her rental car out to my house. Then we met Sam in the parking lot at North Chagrin Reservation for an hour or so of blipping and conversation, followed by dinner at a great Italian restaurant where we were joined by Sam's parents and my husband. And that was only day #1 of this fantastic blipmeet. Tomorrow morning we will meet again for breakfast and more blipping before Deb has to catch her plane back to Chicago.

So how is it possible? How can Blippers who have just met be both new friends and old friends at the same time, so comfortable with each other, with so much to talk about and share? You'll have to explain it because I'm not sure I can, but it's part of the magic of Blipfoto. All I can say is Blippers are very special people. Could that be the explanation?

PS: Carol, aka Rosie, it was great to have a phone conversation with you from our dinner table. Thanks for answering Deb's text and calling us back.

Oh, and about the picture...Is it possible for two or more blippers to get together and not spend at least part of the time talking about cameras, lenses, and stuff like that? Nah! Not possible! Wouldn't happen! Sam and Deb comparing lenses in this picture are the proof. Night Blippers! I need some sleep or I'll never be ready for blipmeet part 2.
