The Great Western Greenway Cycle
Left at 8.30am and arrived in Westport, Mayo at 12.30 without a stopover. Had coffee and carrot cake in Rio Sol cafe and headed out to meet my friend I in Newport. The weather was lovely and Newport is a pretty town with a river marina, stone bridges and an unusual square steepled church overlooking the town.
We had a catch-up in I's new place of residence with massive bay windows looking directly out on Crough Patrick mountain, the popular place of pilgrimage once a year.
I brought my bike so we decided to cycle the 'Great Western Greenway' from Newport to Mulranny, an 36km round trip cycle, built along an old railway track. It was a super trip and the weather held up for us. This is I through an old stone building on the way to Mulranny.
