The Beautiful Game
Today I bought an Aral Fussball Album Weltmeisterschaft 1966 for two euros.. A coolectable give away from a German petrol company celebrating a tournament which culminated in England lifting the Jules Rimet trophy having defeated the germans at Wembley.. So if you know your history like me you'll love football... it really is that simple..
Football has always been a large part of my life. As a Toddlerkid playing in the back streets, collecting World CUp stickers and tarding them at school and in the same year, 1978 going to see my beloved Manchester City FC on my own, without my dad and with my mates, playing for school, college, university and local pub teams and going to watch England across Europe whenever I could afford it.. I loved the World Cup here in Germany last year and more recently Svengali working his magic with the New City destroying the old enemy in the recent Derby match. Braziliano Elano's glorious freekick coffin-nailer against Newcastle last weekend..I look forward to shooting The 2008 European Championships in Austria and Switzerland, a pipe dream perhaps.. they can everything else but they will never take my dreams..
So you can imagine my childish delight when I spied this little piece of history, bought it, took it home and already cherishing it, I opened it up and a collection of 25 Panini style 'Kicker' Bundesliga Season 1970/71 stickers fell out.. (four shown above).. Oh Sweet Victory...
They Thinks It's All Over.. It Is Now !
You may well scoff and think me sad.. but It doesn't get any better than this. ;)
