Heuvelland
After a very late night in Gent and insufficient sleep I headed back to Brussels and thence on to the Eurostar. This was taken from the train after it had passed through Lille and was close to the French-Belgian border. The small hills behind the church spires (the churches might be in Bailleul I think) are part of the "Hill Country" of West Flanders, a part of the world of which I am exceedingly fond. To the left is the Rodeberg with many happy memories of music, eating and drinking, mostly at the Rabbit, and the more distant hill to the right is the Kemmelberg. The hills may be small but they're the highest ground for miles around, so were much fought over during WWI. We'll be back here soon, hurray!
The Eurostar was probably travelling at about 200 mph when I took this, which accounts for the indifferent quality!
