A Vulcan and its lover!
In view of the
BlipFoto submitted for this day
by @ViolaMaths, I think that mine ought to be of her standing by her beloved Vulcan XH558. She was very enamoured of the 'slippers' that you can see protecting the tyres and wheels. I note that she is wearing the 'lanyard programme' that she mentions in her Blip for Sunday 18 July.
Martin Withers certainly put this old lady (XH558, not ViolaMaths) through her paces , and we were treated to a fine flying display, with appropriate 'Vulcan Noises'.
Indeed, the whole day at Fairford was excellent. The weather was good, especially in the afternoon, and the aircraft on show, both flying and static, outstanding in variety and interest. The show seemed exceptionally well constructed for dramatic effect, with nice touches like the "battle" formation of Spits, Hurricanes. Messerschmidts and the like, and the culminating Spit and Typhoon sequence.
A fine day out!
