Our five mile world

The birds and the bees!

Ingvild and I were walking Megan around the river today and disturbed by our presence, a grey heron who had been fishing in the nearby burn took off in flight. What a sight! i had my camera around my neck but left it there.
It's that moment when I choose not to be behind the lens of the camera but to fully enjoy the moment.
We stood watching it as it slowly soared up into the sky with wings outstretched and disappeared into the distance.
It has the look of such an ancient creature.

I can remember many years ago whilst on holiday in the south of France sitting patiently waiting for the cyclists in the Tour de france to come through the village where we were staying. I captured shot after shot as they flew by.
Then with sadness I realsied that I had not truly experienced the race at all. I did have great pictures but had felt oddly disconnected.
So stayed truly connected with the heron today.

Delighted to see a bee busy gathering pollen on our thistles!

Have been working all day writing a 5000 word case study!!
Now off to do my Harvard referencing
Wish me luck!
