Hermitage House
Like something straight out of a Walter Scott novel, Hermitage House with its corner turrets, mock battlements and fine plaster work ceilings in side, was built in 1785 by the architect Robert Burn. The house that stood in this area before was plundered by Bonnie Prince Charlie and his army.
This Hermitage House was in the ownership of various distinguished people - until it was presented to the City of Edinburgh in 1938.
It is part of the park that surrounds Blackford Hill - and a very handy five minute walk with the camera for a blip. And there are many blipotentials round about.
