We took the hedgehog to the vet and left him with them. They will either put him down or pass him on to the animal rescue people to recover. We are hoping it's the latter. The girls and I mosied down to the borders to pick blackcurrants - of which there were an abundance. Such enormous plump berries! The girls kept disappearing to snaffle raspberries, but we picked a good quantity and on our return home I made some blackcurrant jelly - just like my mum makes! So far I have made strawberry jam and marmalade too and the larder is beginning to look less empty. Our Bramley is laden again this year so in the autumn I'll knuckle down to make some chutney.
