These will soon be exploded into a pile of rubble and gone forever.
I will not be too sad to see them go. Over the years, when I used to visit and stay with my son when he lived there, I often used to wish he lived somewhere else. The Council-cum-Housing Association were fighting a bit of a losing battle with the buildings condition and damp and mould were a permanent feature. The lifts only went up to the 22nd floor and to get to the 23rd there were dingy, dark lit stairs with little nooks and bends, and I used to fear getting from the lifts to the safety of Luke's front door. Even in these ultra slim-line lifts it was a gamble who might be sharing a lift and I used to wildly hope that the ascent or descent would not be interrupted with any stops on all the possibilities of the 22 levels. Luke didn't seem to mind any of this, and so I put these worries down to being a bit of an ageing vulnerable lady.
The Concierge's used to do their best, but they were not housed in this block.
